Community Service 2025 in Loppiano: builders of a culture of inclusion and fraternity

9 Jan 2025 | Life, News, Youth

There is time until February 18, 2025, to choose to do Universal Community Service in the international town of Loppiano: a privileged place where you can live an experience of awareness, giving, exchange, education and training in the values of solidarity, nonviolence, human promotion, integration and fraternity.

With the call for the selection of volunteer operators for the Universal Community Service 2024, Loppiano will be able to welcome 4 young people who will be included in the project “Places of participation”, activated in partnership with Confcooperative Toscana.

With the “Places of Participation” project, Confcooperative Toscana and the international town of Loppiano aim to guarantee adolescents and young people at risk of exclusion, a quality socio-cultural education, supporting them through inclusive socio-cultural services, animation and information, to improve their sense of responsibility, solidarity, community and their participation in the social and cultural life of their country. For these adolescents and young people, the volunteers serving in Loppiano, after an initial phase of reception, observation and orientation, will participate in the design and dissemination of initiatives, training courses, workshops for job orientation and cultural mediation, recreational and socialization.

In Loppiano, an international town of the Focolare Movement which started more than 60 years ago, the young volunteers will have the opportunity to experience community service in an intercultural and intergenerational context, with local people and with those from the many parts of the world who have arrived here to participate in one of the Fraternity Training Schools.

The title of the program to which the project relates is “SOLID EDUCATION,” which aims to “provide quality, equitable and inclusive education and learning opportunities for all” and to “reduce inequalities within countries through strengthening social cohesion” (United Nations Agenda 2030 Goal No. 4 and 10).

The Community Service will consist of 1,145 hours per year, for 48 weeks, with an average of 24 hours per week divided into 5 days.

25% of the places are reserved for GMO “youth with fewer opportunities” (ISEE equal to or less than 15 thousand euros).
