The central international event will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on May 7 – 9, 2021 with an international convention at which David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, will speak.

Care as political action and a response to the ecological challenges

At the heart of this year’s event is a Culture of Care, which is expressed in the slogan #DARETOCARE. It is an awareness campaign as well as an action campaign in which young people have identified caring as a political paradigm at the service of people from all social backgrounds for creating a better future.

The objective of the first phase of the campaign was to focus civil and political actions on caring. The second phase, which will begin with United World Week 2021, will focus on caring for the planet, and the challenges of integral ecology.

On May 2, 2021, the Political Movement for Unity, will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an online event that will launch its appeal for a new quality of politics.

May 7 – 9, 2021. A livestream global conference from Brussels, Belgium in which citizens and politicians will be able to brainstorm, discuss and work together. David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament, will be the main speaker on May 7 at a face-to-face meeting with some young people to discuss topics of peace, politics, the reception of migrants, and ecology.  Others who will take part in this event are: Sir Partha Dasgupta and Luigino Bruni; Simone Borg, professor of environmental and resource law at the University of Malta; Lorna Gold, Professor of Environment, Sustainability and Social Justice, at the National University of Ireland Maynooth, Ireland; Catherine Belzung, professor of neuroscience at the University of Tours, France; Pasquale Ferrara, ambassador and diplomat; Giuseppe Gatti magistrate of the National Anti-Mafia and Counter-terrorism Directorship; Margaret Karram and Jesús Morán, President and Co-President of the Focolare Movement; Father Luigi Ciotti, founder of Libera.
